Beanbags boost attendance at 2012 Australian F1 Grand Prix

FIA Formula One Australian Grand Prix attendance boosted by beanbags

The Australian Grand Prix took place on the 18th March with our very own Jenson Button taking first place on the podium. But was it the drivers and cars that had everyone talking over the race weekend? No, it was outdoor bean bags!

This year, for the first time, the Melbourne circuit featured a dedicated bar and outdoor beanbag area so that fans could enjoy the Grand Prix whilst drinking beer and relaxing on a beanbag.

Andrew Westacott, chief executive of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, has gone on record as saying that the 5% increase in attendance at this years event was down to this outdoor beanbag area.  “General admission patrons could pay a premium on their ticket and receive A-grade viewing at Turn 15 including bean bags, deck chairs, and their own bar … That’s what drove attendance, and it was the best we’ve had since 2005.”

The perfect Easter: lambs, daffodils, snow?

The first big holiday of the year is upon us, the children have broken up from school and Mums and Dads are taking a break from work. I think Easter is one of my favourite holidays of the year, so full of the promise of new life with the onset of Spring, a time when we can all look forward to playing outside and lounging on outdoor beanbags in the garden with our kids.
