A Sunderland school turned into a luxurious cinema with bean bag chairs playing a key role in the change.
With bean bag seating, a projector, screen and special sound equipment, FILMCLUB transformed the Broadway Junior School into a movie theatre, allowing children to watch films in comfort after their lessons had finished.
Organisers also brought snacks such as hot dogs and popcorn with them, the Sunderland Echo reports, giving kids the chance to have a bite to eat as they sat on bean bags and took in the show.
“The room looked absolutely fantastic. It was much better than anything we expected,” claims headteacher Margarita Acklam.
Teaching assistant Audrey Ferry, who runs the school’s film club, adds the experience was “great” and the children were surprised when they saw how the FILMCLUB team changed the school hall into a movie theatre.
Launched last September, the FILMCLUB service is free to all state schools in England and garners kids’ opinions on the feature they have just seen. However, teachers wanting to hold similar events for their pupils in the future may want to consider purchasing children’s bean bag seating themselves.
