Beanbags – an aid to autism and sensory processing disorders

Sky One’s new series, Touch, starring Keifer Sutherland highlights the issues faced by parents with autistic children, and has seen Jake, Sutherland’s autistic son in Touch, benefiting from sensory stimulation in a sensory room featuring beanbags.

Sensory rooms are used for children and adults alike who suffer from autism or sensory processing disorders. A sensory processing disorder is a neurological disorder that causes difficulties with processing information from the 5 senses; vision, auditory, touch, olfaction and taste as well as from the sense of movement (vestibular system) and/or the positional sense (proprioception).

The perfect Easter: lambs, daffodils, snow?

The first big holiday of the year is upon us, the children have broken up from school and Mums and Dads are taking a break from work. I think Easter is one of my favourite holidays of the year, so full of the promise of new life with the onset of Spring, a time when we can all look forward to playing outside and lounging on outdoor beanbags in the garden with our kids.
