Throws and cushions ‘can give a home colour’

The use of luxury throws and cushions could prove an effective way for homeowners to give a touch of colour to a room, should the comments of one interior design expert prove anything to go by.

Adrienne Chinn, director of Adrienne Chinn Design, notes that soft furnishings can be used to freshen up the overall look of a room, whether people are keen for their home to reflect the seasons or whenever they simply feel like having a change.

Noting that furniture and walls should be kept fairly neutral, she states that using colourful rugs, throws and cushions can all help to add a sense of vibrancy.

"Things like that can bring in lots of fun colours in a space, then you can change it as your tastes change," Ms Chinn points out, adding that people are increasingly looking to use bright colours in their home.

In a recent article for the Leaf Chronicle, Paige Thomas King stated that she uses colourful throws and cushions to liven up her living room, with the soft furnishings also helping guests to stay warm and comfortable.

Alternative school uses bean bag chairs

Bean bag chairs have been revealed to play a key role in the learning process at one educational facility in the United States.

The Tahlequah Daily Press reports that the Talking Leaves Job Corps (TLJC) in Oklahoma often provides a last chance for teenagers in the area who are experiencing trouble at school or home.

However, in opposition to traditional schools career training manager Ramona Holt reveals TLJC takes an alternative approach and works alongside students to find out what their learning preferences are.

And this certainly appears to be the case for 17-year-old Michael Cantley, who states the way the classrooms are designed are aimed at helping students to relax and concentrate on their studies.

He points out that there are bean bag chairs to sit on, while they can also listen to music.

Last month, the Naperville Patch reported the Fischer Middle School in Aurora, Illinois is to receive a grant which it will use to bean bag chairs for a sensory room to be used by those with autism.

Cushions and throws ‘help to keep a home looking fresh’

Throws and cushions' ability to update the look of a living room has been noted by one home interior expert.

Writing for US publication the Leaf Chronicle, Paige Thomas King states that while she and her family bought their sofa in a neutral colour, they would use cushions and throws in order to liven it up and keep their home looking fresh.

She adds that having a lot of pillows and throws in her living room means that guests can stay warm and comfortable.

"I hope that when folks visit our house, they look around feel comfortable – like they're part of the family. We're very casual around our house and the decor reflects our demeanour," Ms Thomas King claims.

And those keen to use luxury throws and pillows in their home may want to bear in mind the recent comment of Helen Green. Writing for Terry's Fabrics, she claims those painting their living room in a yellow pastel colour should accessorise with throws and cushions in "a slightly sharper green" in order to provide contrast.

Bean bags ‘the perfect item of furniture for watching the Super Bowl’

With the Super Bowl taking place this Sunday (February 6th), those looking to enjoy the sporting spectacle may want to consider one article's advice and watch the American football game while sat on bean bags.

A piece by eHow.com reported in the St Petersburg Times reveals that people inviting their friends and family over to watch the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers should ensure that they have plenty of space for people to sit on.

And as the article notes the importance of arranging furniture so that nobody's view of the television is obstructed, it claims "bean bags and floor pillows can create extra seating so all guests are comfortable".

But bean bag sofas and chairs are not the only thing people should consider in the build-up to a Super Bowl party. Having plenty of food and drink close by was also recommended.

With Ad Week reporting that some 110 million people could watch this year's Super Bowl, a significant number of people may end up sitting on bean bag chairs to watch the game.

Children’s suites at Florida hotel to include bean bags

Guests staying at a hotel in Florida over the coming months may find that they have the chance to sit on bean bag chairs.

Splash! Magazine reports that the 11-storey Holiday Inn Resort in Pensacola Beach, which is due to open on February 25th, will feature a range of rooms and suites.

But while each room will have a widescreen TV, DVD player and queen-sized beds, it could be the children's suites that offer the most comfort to guests. Kids staying in these suites will have PlayStation 3s and bean bags at their disposal.

And when the kids are not relaxing on a bean bag chair, they may find themselves having fun on the lazy river, a water feature which leads to the hotel's outdoor pool.

"I can see kids now running up to the windows looking out to the lazy river, leaving fingerprints on the glass, excited," general manager Charlie Allen tells the publication.

But the Pensacola Beach Holiday Inn is not the first hotel to feature bean bags. Luxury hotel publication Mr & Mrs Smith noted that La Reserve Ramatuelle in St Tropez, France gives guests the chance to cosy into a bean bag situated next to the heated outdoor pool.

Malaysian cinema incorporates bean bag movie hall

A cinema in Malaysia is giving people the chance to relax on a bean bag while watching films.

The Sun Daily reports that the new TGV Cinema in Penang Island incorporates a Beanieplex, a hall lined with bean bag chairs that accommodate up to 40 viewers.

Located on 1st Avenue, the eight-screen cinema – which includes one that projects images in 3D – has a total capacity of 1,310 people.

"What better way to make an entrance than with the introduction of the Beanieplex concept, Malaysia's first-ever movie hall with bean bag seats," TGV chief operating officer Kenny Wong states.

But Malaysia is not the first country to have given its residents the opportunity to watch films on the big screen while sat on a bean bag.

Last month, the Lithgow Mercury reported that the Lithgow High School Oval hosted the Cinema Under The Stars event, giving people the chance to watch Alice in Wonderland while relaxing on such comfortable seating.
