A youth project from Tyneside is hoping to raise money to invest in a sensory room which will feature bean bag chairs among other items.
ChronicleLive.co.uk reports that the Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project is among a host of organisations looking to secure cash from its Wish fund.
A total of £50,000 will be shared among community groups and the youth group is hoping to use its slice of the money to kit out a sensory room with bean bags, bubble lamps and lights.
Stacey Lithgow, youth leader, told the newspaper that the funding will make a huge difference to the members.
"The centre doesn't have anywhere for the children to go and relax and chill out and they suggested that we create a sensory room," she added.
Essex-based newspaper the Daily Gazette reported recently that the charity Catch 22 has been given a £2,651 grant from the Gannett Foundation to invest in bean bags and other items to create an area for young people to feel comfortable.
