New York business centre features bean bags

Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to sit on bean bags and network with others at one centre in New York, it has emerged.

Speaking to Inc.com, Tony Bacigalupo reveals that his New Work City facility offers a place where those employed in the creative industry can access the internet, use meeting rooms and work on projects together.

He notes that his idea for the centre came as a means of helping freelancers and those who work from home to come together and socialise.

"We're in the middle of a revolution in which huge swaths of the workforce will shift to working from home. New Work City is a platform to take advantage of that," Mr Bacigalupo tells the publication.

In addition to bean bags, New Work City – which is located in Broadway, Manhattan – gives users the chance to relax on couches, while there is also a bar.

Meanwhile, a recent New York Times article reported that members of the New York Nightowls gather on bean bags every Tuesday night to brainstorm and work through the early hours.

Bean bags praised for flexibility

The versatility and flexibility that is offered by bean bags has been noted by one writer.

In a piece for Ezine Articles, John Espinosa notes that by having bean bag chairs people will not be hampered by the physical limitations of traditional furniture should they find that they require more space.

"If you need more open space, you can't compact a couch into your closet but bean bags will be happy to oblige," he states.

Alternatively, those who suddenly find that they need more seats – perhaps if they've invited their friends over for a movie night – may want to pull out bean bags to ensure everyone has somewhere to sit.

And those looking for a particularly comfortable item of seating were advised that they "could do much worse than strongly consider bean bag furniture as an option", as the writer goes on to claim such items are a quick way to give a home a lift.

Meanwhile, a recent Helium article saw bean bag chairs commended as being "a very economical selection compared to other seating options".

Bean bags praised for being “completely moldable”

Bean bags are the ideal item of furniture for those who are looking to relax in total comfort.

This is according to a post on the Video Game Chair blog, which states that a bean bag is much easier to cosy up on than other items of seating.

"Regular couches and chairs have very definite limitations, as you have probably noticed if you have ever tried to twist and turn and find the right position to watch a movie or even just hang out," the publication notes.

Bean bag chairs, on the other hand, are "completely moldable" so people can press them into whatever shape they like before sitting down in order to ensure maximum comfort levels.

And it appears that bean bags can be used for a whole variety of purposes as the blog states they are great for watching television, playing computer games or simply chatting with friends.

Meanwhile, a recent Nissoana.com article reported that bean bag sofas offer people "various chances to get comfortable".

The John Paul II School (JPII) in Battersea opened the doors of its new Learning Hub on Thursday (September 23rd), This is Local London reports, with the centre featuring dimmed lights, a computer suite and bean bag chairs.

Headteacher Rob Cooper states: "The JPII Learning Hub is yet another example of state of the art facilities enabling effective learning and progress."

He adds that students at the school find the space "a wonderful environment to study".

Throws and cushions ‘help to create French-style property’

Those looking to embrace the French style of decor into their home should consider the role that luxury throws and cushions can play.

Such is the assertion of an entry on Lon's Article Dictionary, which states that while this particular home interior style sees walls decorated in neutral shades such as pale green and beige, the use of soft furnishings can help to add a touch of colour to a room.

The article advises people should "make the most" of cushions and throws in order to give contrast to their pastel shade walls, recommending the use of furnishings in "solid bold, dark colours like burgundy, navy blue and dark green".

However, those looking to create a stylish-looking home may also want to consider the role that bean bags can play in this.

A recent Nissona.com article noted that bean bag sofas are ideal for use by the whole family due to their durable and versatile nature.

The writer adds that such a bean bag could be particularly useful to place in a children's room.

And the need to stay comfortable while gaming is vital.

"Many gamers will tell you that getting the optimum position is crucial, if you are looking for the full virtual reality experience, even if you don't have the latest HD kit," it was claimed.

Earlier this week, CrunchGear's Dave Freeman stated that spending some time sat on a bean bag and playing computer games is a great way for students to let off some steam and take a break from the books.

Bean bag sofas ‘are a flexible form of furniture’

Bean bag sofas have a wide array of uses, it has been suggested.

A Nissoana.com article reports that such an item of furniture is perfect for use by the entire family "as they are pliable, sturdy and durable all at the same time".

However, they can be particularly useful for pregnant women, who may need additional support while sitting down.

"Bean bag furniture sofas provide various chances to get comfortable and can go with you from room to room as you prefer," the publication states.

And while they can be tucked away in the corner of a room, it is also claimed that such bean bags can form a vital part of "a regular set of bedroom or living room furniture".

Such comments follow a recent Very article by K Smallridge, who claimed that bean bags can be an ideal item of furniture for people to have should they have guests over.

Multi-sensory studio gives people chance to sit on bean bags

A therapy centre in Canada is giving people the chance to relax on bean bag chairs, it has been revealed.

The Snoezelen Room at the Nanaimo Association for Community Living offers those with a wide range of disabilities and disorders the opportunity to unwind, Canada.com reports.

And it seems that bean bags play a role in the multi-sensory studio, as people can sit on such seating while listening to music or watching light shows.

Stating such a room provides an "instant calming effect" for users, the publication points to research which claims "multi-sensory environments offer visual, auditory and kinesthetic benefits".

"I just like to hang out in here. I always feel more relaxed when I leave here," claims Stephen Vaughan, a 24-year-old with cerebral palsy who regularly visits the centre.

Meanwhile, actor Luke Evans recently told the London Evening Standard how he finds sitting on a bean bag to watch tropical pet fish swim in their tank to be a therapeutic experience.

Let off steam by settling down on bean bags, gamers advised

One writer has noted the benefits of sitting on a bean bag chair in order to play computer games.

Writing for CrunchGear, Dave Freeman points out that settling down on bean bags to play on a console is an ideal way for students to take a break from the books.

"There's nothing wrong with putting a couple of bean bag chairs down and letting off some steam from time to time," he claims.

And while gamers have the choice of playing on the Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, he states all three consoles have their benefits and disadvantages, although the latter's "outstanding gaming franchises" were deemed to make it "a strong contender".

Those students keen to settle on a bean bag chair in order to play on games might want to bear in mind his advice to consider their roommates' needs and which consoles they own already.

Seattlest.com recently reported that gamers had the chance to sit on bean bag chairs at the Penny Arcade Expo while playing on handheld consoles.

Florida youth centre features bean bags

Children have the chance to relax on bean bags at a youth centre in Florida, it has been revealed.

A Carrollwood News and Tribune article notes that the Whitzend kidZone – which is due to open this weekend – will provide a safe place for kids in the area to hang out, giving an alternative to staying at home or going to the cinema.

And it seems that bean bag chairs play a vital role in the 800 sq ft youth centre, as kids are able to relax on such comfortable seating while playing board games or munching on snacks from the vending machine.

There are also Wii and Xbox game consoles for kids to play on, as well as musical instruments.

"This is someplace where you can put your feet up on the coffee table," Deb Kelley, founder of the centre, states.

But this is not the first time that bean bags have featured in a youth centre. WHSV recently reported Girl Scout Mary Kern helped to renovate a facility in Rockingham County, Virginia in order to give somewhere safe for kids to play, with such a building containing bean bags.
